Our Youthful Hope - Meet the WEIF Youth Board

Are you a teen looking for an opportunity to have a real impact on your world? Consider becoming a member of WEIF's Youth Board!

The Youth Board, comprised of young high school and university students and its volunteers are working together towards achieving WEIF's international initiatives and improving its programs. We are proud to be the forerunners for change in our global community, with an endless source of hope and energy towards a better world.

WEIF has instituted a Youth Board comprising of young high school and university students. As members of this Board, our role is to engage Canadians to advance educational opportunities and employment rights for women and girls in Central and South Asia. We believe that promoting equality of all citizens is a crucial step in the fight against global poverty. In pursuit of the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals, WEIF will help Canadian youth make an impact on their world by helping youth in Central and South Asia realize their full potential and achieve their dreams.

Youth are the future of this world. They need to be kept abreast of happenings around the global community. Amnesty International has written in support of its new worldwide Demand Dignity campaign, to tackle global poverty:

"Whatever plan is pursued, whatever projects are prioritized, whatever aid package is agreed, no solution to poverty without human rights at its core will have any long-term impact. Protecting the rights of those living in poverty is not just an option - it is an essential piece of any solution... Economic growth is an important component of a strategy to tackle poverty, but it cannot be the only piece. Governments must create the conditions that allow people living in poverty to claim their human rights, to empower themselves, so that they can be masters, and not victims, of their destiny."
