Nelofar Bano

Nelofar is a nurse at one of the local hospitals. Her husband is a driver for a local company. Despite the double income, they were finding it difficult to look after the needs of a large family including their parents, brothers and four children. Therefore, Nelofar has borrowed a loan from WAFA and started a business of vegetables.

Laila Begum

Laila Begum has started a ladies shop in a room at her residence. She argued that there are no similar shop in the locality. Ladies have to travel to the centre of Danyore or to the markets of Gilgit. With this business, she facilitates all her neighbours in purchasing the goods of their interests and needs from her shop.

Shahina

Shahina is a constable in the police department. To support her family, Shahina grows vegetables in her land to add to the family income by selling them in the local market. She borrowed a loan from WAFA to purchase fertilizers, vegetable seeds and pay the laborers who will work for her in the fields.

Begum Bano

Begum Bano started the business of buying and selling animals in the local market. She used to run this business but had to stop for lack of funds. "The other banks simply rob us by charging us high interest rates. Therefore, I didn't continue borrowing money from them," Begum commented. She became a member in Nelofar’s group to borrow a loan from WAFA to purchase goats and cows.
